Ways to Help

Those who can, do. Those who can do more, volunteer!

Volunteers play a critical role in the lives of the children at Open Arms. From helping with reading, tutoring a child in particular subject to just being available for a warm hug, we think our volunteers benefit as much as our children.

Our volunteers have come from all walks of life and have stayed for various lengths – some have even extended their stay once they arrived. Others have already made their second trip to Open Arms. Some come as singles, others as a couple or with a group of friends. Whatever the reason or the time, volunteering at Open Arms is a terrific gift.

Volunteers make a difference by giving love and support to our children in so many ways. Some of the things volunteers do include:

  • Driving the children to school or medical appointments
  • Chaperoning a field trip to the beach or the movies
  • Assisting with art projects
  • Helping with school work
  • Tutoring kids who need special academic help
  • Working in our pre-school each day
  • Helping in our computer lab
  • Playing every kind of game imaginable!
