Executive Director

Rita Montgomery is approaching her second year as Executive Director at Open Arms Home for Children. Rita is a native of Reedsburg, Wisconsin and grew up on a dairy farm (meaning she’s no stranger to hard work!). She is the youngest of 5 children and attended the University of Wisconsin in Platteville. Prior to coming to Open Arms, Rita has been an incredibly valuable employee at the investment firm of Robert W. Baird in Milwaukee for 17 years. She served in a variety of roles for Baird during that time, including recruiting director, branch manager and professional development manager. In 2007, Rita had quite an adventure as she spent a year going around the world engaged in service work. She worked a month at Open Arms as a volunteer and also at Sparrow Ministries in Jo’Berg. She also spent time working at Mother Teresa’s home in Calcutta, an orphanage in Katmandu and some time rebuilding homes on the U.S. Gulf Coast. Yes, that is the kind of person she is!

We are excited in every way to have Rita leading our operation in South Africa. She is passionate about what she is doing and loves the kids with all her heart. Good for them and good for us!
